Two-Day Painting Workshop: Into the Wild with Ron Thomson
Admission
- $250.00
Description
Join Ron Thomson for an intimate and in-depth two-day workshop painting Red Hills wildlife! Participants will study local fauna and paint directly from mounted animals on display generously provided by Harden's Taxidermy. This is a rare opportunity to work with a three-dimensional shape and paint from direct observation.
On day one, you will learn how to streamline the development of form and gesture, and block in with a harmonic palette that explores light’s warm and cool relationships. On day two, you will learn how to bring your subjects to life with the implication of surface textures of fur, feathers, eyes, and claws.
Each day will begin with demonstration and discussion followed by individual guidance as you are working on your paintings. This workshop aims to balance freedom for individual expression and support to strengthen your confidence and skill.
Ideal for intermediate and experienced level painters working in oils or acrylics. A supply list will be provided to registered participants. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch to enjoy during a break from 12-1pm.
September 19-20, 9am-4pm
Cost: $250.00 (Members and Non-Members)
Ron Thomson’s The Land We Call Home is on exhibit at Thomasville Center for the Arts from August 14-October 24, 2025.
